These masks are primarily made from non-biodegradable materials such as polypropylene, and when disposed of improperly, they contribute to pollution on land and in waterways. Moreover, the production and disposal of these masks generate greenhouse gas emissions, further exacerbating environmental concerns. In response to this issue, our dental office has implemented a mask recycling program, which offers a sustainable solution to mitigate the environmental impact of disposable masks. By collecting used masks from patients and recycling them through specialized channels, we divert waste from landfills and reduce the carbon footprint associated with mask disposal.
