Dental Exams

Having regular dental examinations with a dentist is an integral part of ensuring oral health.

Only a dentist can diagnose problems regarding your teeth and gums. Usually, dental check ups are recommended at least once or twice a year, depending on your oral health and needs. An essential part of the exam is a screening for oral cancer, which can be a fatal disease. This disease can affect the throat, tongue, and soft tissues of the mouth. As with all health issues, problems that are caught early are usually easier to treat and usually the outcomes are more favourable – Oral cancer is no different. That’s why regular exams are important to ensure this disease is detected and dealt with as soon as possible.

Side note: (Some people who have complete dentures, often think that they don’t need to have regular dental exams because they have no teeth! But remember, oral cancer can affect those people regardless of the presence of teeth, so it is still very important to have these exams)
